Sands Beach Resort at Fitur Travel Fair
January 18, 2010

If you’ve got it flaunt it, and Sands Beach Resort Hotel has just what it takes to help promote the wonders of Lanzarote at the Fitur Travel Fair in Madrid. It’s one of the biggest events on the holiday calendar, and from 20 to 24 January the Canary Islands will be promoting all the islands have to offer.
This year the islands are being sold in 4 categories, all of them perfectly embodied at Sands Beach Resort Hotel. There is the Water Sports Experience, well look no further than Costa Teguise for great surfing beaches and Sands promotes wind surfing and scuba diving in the resort.
Then there is the Volcanic Experience, Sands is perfectly placed to visit all the best volcanic sights in Lanzarote, and can offer a full range of excursions. Family Welcome is another category, and Sands prides itself on offering fun, games and supervision for all the family in its beachfront setting. Finally we have Wellness Delight, the gym and health centre at Sands Beach Resort Hotel is geared up to give top to toe pampering, and the lovely weather in Lanzarote is sure to make everyone feel good.
Top stars surf into Sands Beach Resort
November 3, 2009

Families return again and again to Sands Beach Resort Hotel in Costa Teguise, but they are not the only people to appreciate the wonderful weather, sea and beaches. Another international surfing competition has just been held in Lanzarote, and they picked Sands for their media launch and barbecue evening.
The Islas Canarias Santa Pro 2009, featuring the Six Stars Prime Event, is the last major competition on the international circuit for 2009, so there was intense interest surfers and officials gathered. Pictured are (left to right) Councillor of sport for the Cabildo of Lanzarote, surfers Patrick Beven and José María Cabrera, Councillor of Tourism for the Gobierno of the Canarias Rita Martín, the mayor of Teguise Pedro Hernandez and Director of Sands Beach Resort Juan Carlos Albuixech.
All major countries were represented with Clay Marzo leading the way for North America, Patick Beven for France and Jonathan Gonzalez for the Canary Islands. The action took place on Playa de San Juan in Famara, and with 145,000 dollars up for grabs as prize money, the competition was sharp.
As the frantic media activity went on, it was business as usual for the lucky holiday makers, they continued to splash in the pools, enjoy top food and soak up the beachfront setting.
Ironman Lanzarote and Sands Beach Resort, what a team.
May 26, 2009
Even professional triathletes need that extra boost, Nicolas (Nico) Ward Munoz took on the Lanzarote Ironman contest last weekend with the logo of Sands Beach Resort Hotel on his chest, and the website address on his shorts. It was with great pride that we saw him finish 6th in the mens competition, nice to know we played our part.
A 3.8 km swim, 180 kms cycling, and finally,42.2 kms running, maked this the toughest and most respected of all the World Ironman contests. Each year Puerto del Carmen is the start and finish point for some 1,200 plus competitors, professional and keen amateurs, as many thousands swarm the route to cheer them on. This year was as exciting as ever, and in an amazing feat, last years winners came through victorious again. Scotlands Bella Bayliss took the ladies honours in 9 hours and 54 minutes (yes it really does take that long) and Belgians Bert Jammaer was top man in 8 hours and 54 minutes.
Lanzarote born Gregorio Morales was a popular fourth placed competitor, but Nico had plenty of support from Costa Teguise and his favourite beachfront family hotel. Don’t worry, we don’t expect our guests to do anything more athletic than swim in our 6 outdoor pools, or sample our gym or tennis courts. But if you want a challenge Lanzarote has many to offer.

Beauty Queens and Kings line up at Sands Beach Resort
November 12, 2008
Everyone wants to sample the family atmosphere at Sands Beach Resort Hotel, so when the beautiful and talented want to be presented to the media, it’s no surprise that they chose the Costa Teguise beachfront hotel as their favoured backdrop.
It takes a lot to divert our guests attention from the 6 pools or the sea water lagoon and beach, but the arrival of 50 glamourous contestants for the Mr and Miss Las Palmas 2008 beauty contests, certainly turned a few heads. The province of Las Palmas covers Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote so the stunning hopefuls were flying the flag for all 3 islands.
The council of Teguise invited the contestants to Lanzarote and Sands Beach Resort was the natural place to hold a press conference. In recent months Sands Beach Resort has hosted the press conferences for the World Windsurfing competition and the musical extravaganza “Costa de Musicas”. The bright modern setting and wide ranging facilities of Sands Beach Resort meant that the visiting media were spoilt for choice when it came to photo opportunities.
Looking after the contestants and their media admirers was all in a days work for the Sands Beach Resort staff, after all they offer a right royal welcome to all their guests.
