Yacht World heads for Lanzarote
September 8, 2008

It’s a first for Spain and it’s happening in Lanzarote. The 2008 World Championship for TP52 yachts, will bring colour, splendour and fast paced action to Puerto Calero from October 20 to 25. Already sails have been hoisted in the waters around the island as teams arrive to practice, and the starting line up will have 20 competitors from 12 different countries, including U.S.A, Great Britain, Russia and Argentina.
Puerto Calero marina is just past Puerto del Carmen and barely an hour from Costa Teguise and Sands Beach Resort Hotel. The marina is always busy but over the next few weeks it will be frantic as the worlds media descend to cover the racing. Puerto Calero is already the winter base for the Ericsson Racing Team, and the superb weather and seas of Lanzarote have been a major factor in luring the championship to Spain for the first time.
Lanzarote is a perfect base for water sports, Sands Beach Resort with its beachfront location, makes full use of this and offers wind surfing and diving lessons among its full programme of events. Like all the island, Sands Beach Resort loves to welcome families and show them that sun, sea and sand are just the start of a Lanzarote holiday.
