Put the Family Through Their Paces at the Teguise Marathon
If you’re thinking of booking some winter sun in Costa Teguise this year, make sure to include the 3rd and 4th December in your holiday dates because that’s the weekend of the Teguise Lanzarote International Marathon and it promises to be a fun packed weekend for all the family.
Organized by Sands Beach Resort and Club La Santa, the weekend will see the promenade along by Pueblo Marinero turned into a colourful and buzzing race track with a race fair on Friday afternoon (December 2nd) and all day Saturday and a carbohydrates festival on Saturday afternoon.
The main events over the weekend will consist of four individual races which means that everyone can have a shot at completing their favoured distance, and with cash prizes, medals, T shirts and diplomas up for grabs, you’ll have some wonderful souvenirs as well as memories.
The full marathon will cover a distance of 42.195km, there will be a half marathon at 21.100km, a quarter marathon of 10.550km all of which will be run on Sunday 4th December and a children’s marathon of 1km which will take place on Saturday 3rd December. Entry fees for the races are €25, €20 and €15 for the full, half and quarter marathons respectively and the children’s marathon is free to enter.
The course will begin right outside Sands Beach Resort and there are some very special offers which include a whole package of goodies like reduced accommodation costs, race entry fees, a special race day breakfast and discount at the Wellness Centre for that well deserved massage after you’ve set a new personal best time.
The whole event promises to have a carnival atmosphere with snack and ice cream vendors, invited athletes, lots of spectators lining the promenade between Sands Beach Resort and La Caleta and of course professional and amateur runners honing their fitness levels or running for charity.
Whether you join in, watch from the sandy comfort of Playa Jabillo or Bastián or lend your support along the route, Costa Teguise will be alive and kicking for the 22nd International Lanzarote Marathon. Make a date to be part of it.
You’ll find full details of the weekend on the official Teguise Marathon website.
